Invited as speaker on a formal training day of ExpertSuisse (the specialist association for auditing, taxes and fiduciary in Switzerland) and IIA Switzerland, Dr. Philipp Wilhelm held a presentation on why internal auditors should be masters of learning. He provided insights into competences demanded on the labour market, where adaptability and agility, persuasion, and communication skills feature prominently on rankings of competences employers seek in job applicants. While the demand in internal audit services can be predicted to stay high, routine tasks and clearly specified work processes (such as those close to external auditing) will be highly automated in the near future. To stay relevant, we have to adapt to new service and competence demands. (2021-09-01, 2021-09-22). In September 2021, we gave a training for IIA Switzerland about the highly demanded competence »adaptability«, often neglected in internal auditing. We live in times of hyper change. As internal auditors and as internal audit functions, we should improve our capacity to deal with unpredictability by Increasing the adaptability of our internal audit teams. The scientifically validated Adaptability Quotient (AQ) allows to objectively measure and increase the adaptability of internal auditors and internal audit teams. We are Pioneer Partner of AQai, the UK based start-up which has developed the AQ. In the course, we furthered the understanding of adaptability, agility, and learning aptitude. Participants interpreted the 16 scientifically validated measures of adaptability and measured the adaptability quotient (AQ) of their own internal audit team at the individual and team level. We jointly discussed how to deduce individual action points to increase team adaptability.
(2021-05-06, 2021-06-07). This spring, we have launched our new training on communicating in internal auditing. Research shows that soft skills are crucial for the difference between an internal audit department that works well and an internal audit department that adds value and has real business impact. This training builds competence in internal audit communication and covers related theories and practical application. It is freely scalable between three hours and five days, depending on the focus and the balance between content and active participation of all course participants. We have successfully given our training to a major Swiss bank in a series of five sessions spaced over 4 weeks, partly online and partly face-to-face in-house. In 2021, Dr. Philipp Wilhelm was providing the four-day foundational training of internal auditors for the Swiss Federal Audit Office (EFK/CDF) and in the Swiss section of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) . This competency-building boot camp has a duration of one week and builds all foundations of the work of a modern professional internal auditor. The course is available in German and English and is organized twice a year in each language. During the training, participants get a sound overview of modern internal auditing, relevant professional standards, and the audit methodology for conducting an internal audit assignment. In the course of the rebranding of the Schweizer Institut für Managementerneuerung GmbH, its first brand Arzt-Karriere.ch has been adjusted to the new corporate identity of the institute. The new corporate font Impact and the corporate colors #336699 (lakeside blue) and #ac1e2c (sunrise red) are now characteristic of a company that has a focus on impact in the DNA of its activities and which is located at the sunny shore of Lake Zurich.
